Omega WW2 Military 1944

 

Very rare Stainless steel Omega WW2 Military exact minutes scale with 1/5 seconds division  dial , red second hand caliber  R17.8SC sweep second, antimagnetic wrist watch circa 1944.

This is a very clean all original military second world war Omega manual wind wrist watch. The dial is factory original and it has never been altered or retouched. From lug to lug this Omega signed case is 38mm long and wide not including the crown it is 32mm. The case reference number is 2328-1. With 16 jewels and with cut corners, this reliable  Omega caliber 17,8 SC central  is in pristine condition.

 The Cathedral model Omega hands are original, complete,  never touched and have all  the original material in them. The dial has a very nice aging patina, and is signed in the back. The movement, as you can see  is well serviced to ensure it winds and sets smoothly while keeping accurate time.

The serial number for this movement is 10,461,697 and this serial number situates the construction of this watch  in 1944. This exceptional Omega model,  was especially useful for measure distance and time, central second swept hand was a recently  improve for that time, so was more easy measure the time between when they hear the firing of howitzer or artillery piece  and when they hear or see the impact, counting the seconds   the soldiers  can determinate the distance of the enemy weapons.

The case has never been polished, nor have the marks or scratches been removed, is a 100% original survivor, witness of the end of an era.
This is a collector model watch, and for his robust and reliable caliber you can use like a watch for every days of the week.
